Cureton and Hartley write about the built environment under pressure from urban growth and climate. GeoBIM, one of the tools covered, joins geographic data with building information models (BIM: detailed digital models of buildings). Gamification, the use of game mechanics in planning, is another. More than a hundred international projects and workflows illustrate the book. There are five case studies and a companion website. Geodesign is presented as collaborative work among the people involved in a place.

Of the recent books on urban twins, this one is written from the practice of planning and design. It is the most concerned with how a twin is used in a room with stakeholders.
